A LITTLE HELP ALONG THE WAY

Car magnet questions, answered.

Car magnet answers, from finding the right fit to keeping your sign ready for the next trip.

Back to car magnets

Before you order

The right surface and the right kind of sign.

Will a magnet work on any vehicle?

No. Test the intended panel with a household magnet before ordering. Aluminum, plastic, and fiberglass will not hold a magnet. A compatible panel also needs enough smooth, flat space for the whole sign to make contact.

Which vehicles have aluminum doors that won’t hold a magnet?

Magnetic signs will not attach to aluminum door panels. These manufacturer-documented trucks and SUVs are examples to check before ordering; this is not a complete vehicle list.

Vehicle / documented yearsWhat to know
Chevrolet Silverado 15002019–2026 redesigned generation

Aluminum doors on the redesigned light-duty truck. The older-design 2019 Silverado 1500 LD is separate; do not apply this example to every Silverado or HD truck.

GMC Sierra 15002019–2026 redesigned generation

GM lists aluminum door skins for the redesigned Double Cab and Crew Cab. Do not assume the older-design 2019 Sierra 1500 Limited or every Sierra HD has the same doors.

Ford F-150Aluminum-body redesign introduced for 2015

Ford documents an aluminum-alloy body for the 2015 redesign and an aluminum body in its 2026 F-150 Hybrid guide. Steel reinforcement inside a door does not make its aluminum outer panel suitable for a sign.

Ford Super Duty F-250 / F-350 / F-450 pickups2026 documented example

Ford specifies an aluminum-alloy pickup body. Test the cab door separately from any work body, utility box, or other equipment fitted to the truck.

Jeep Gladiator (JT)2020 launch-generation example

Jeep documents lightweight aluminum factory doors. The bed is steel, showing why the material of one panel cannot establish compatibility for another.

Jeep Wrangler (JL)2018 new-generation example

The new-generation JL uses aluminum factory doors. Do not apply this example to every Wrangler generation or to aftermarket replacement doors.

Ford Bronco (2-door / 4-door)2021 new-generation example

Ford’s brochure identifies aluminum doors. This example is for the full-size Bronco, not the separate Bronco Sport model.

Year references identify documented examples or generations, not every year a model may use aluminum. Other vehicles, versions, and future model years may also have non-magnetic panels. A vehicle missing from this list is not automatically compatible.

Manufacturer sources checked October 18, 2026.

Should I choose a magnet or a decal?

Choose a magnet when you want to remove and reuse your sign on a compatible panel. An adhesive decal may suit a longer-term display or a surface that will not hold a magnet. Tell us about the surface so we can review the options.

On the road

What to know about paint and driving.

Will a car magnet damage my paint?

Dirt caught underneath can scratch paint, and trapped moisture or heat can cause problems. Use only on sound, fully cured paint and keep both surfaces clean and dry. Paint outside the covered area may weather differently over time.

Will it stay on while driving?

Holding power depends on the material, panel, size, condition, and installation. Full contact is essential. We do not promise a universal speed rating; ask for the guidance for your order and remove any sign with lifting edges before driving.

Care & weather

Keep your sign in good shape between trips.

Can I leave it on all the time?

Remove it regularly to inspect, clean, and dry underneath. Daily checks are a useful habit for a work vehicle. Follow the care schedule supplied with your material instead of leaving it in place indefinitely.

How does Arizona heat affect it?

A sun-exposed vehicle panel can get much hotter than the surrounding air. Heat and prolonged sun can affect the magnet, print, and paint. Follow the material’s temperature limits and store the sign out of direct sun when it is not in use.

How long will it last outdoors?

Useful life varies with the material, sun exposure, weather, storage, and cleaning. We confirm the appropriate material and its care guidance for your project rather than quoting one lifespan for every order.

Your order

From your approved design to delivery.

How are the design and timing confirmed?

We review your request and confirm the products, personalization, and timing in your quote. You approve the design proof before production. Pickup by appointment in Chandler or nationwide shipping is coordinated for your project.

Something a little more specific?

Share a photo of your panel and tell us what you have in mind. We’ll help with the next step.
